2015 Bekkers McLaren Vale Syrah Grenache
Winemaker Toby Bekkers has chosen to use the French “syrah” instead of shiraz, to state his case for a brighter, uplifted, uncluttered fruit expression of the key variety, blended here with the region’s other rock star red, grenache to achieve a delightfully balanced, medium bodied style, crimson to black berry flavours, licorice sidelights, dusty to earthy savoury notes, a dark choc-orange backdrop, and most importantly a very desirable and satisfying drinkability. Drink with: Middle Eastern lamb.
